About Us
The Elizabeth House is a supportive transitional housing program run by Care Net Pregnancy Center of Dane County, serving South Central Wisconsin. The program was launched in 2003 to address the needs of single pregnant women in the community. Since its inception, over 350 women and children have found a safe place to live and make a new start.
Care Net is a Christian, faith-based ministry dedicated to helping women and providing comprehensive resources for those facing an unintended pregnancy. Our approach is guided by the example of Jesus Christ, and our team of staff and volunteers is united by shared Christian values. We are nondenominational and welcome volunteers and staff from both Catholic and Protestant backgrounds. We serve women of all faiths, as well as those without any faith beliefs. Our direction is taken from James 1:27, “For this is pure and genuine religion, to care for widows and orphans in their distress, and do not let the world corrupt you.”
We recognize that a lack of housing is a huge burden to overcome when faced with an unexpected pregnancy. We believe every woman deserves a safe environment to carry out her pregnancy and bring her baby home to.
Many single pregnant women lack the support needed to maintain a stable household of their very own. We provide the opportunities, tools, and resources they need to live independently and become self-sufficient. Our goal is that when a woman leaves our program, she has the necessary resource base that keeps her from becoming homeless again. We believe women can choose life and thrive. Our program and home environment are rooted in the structure and values of traditional family living. As the scripture says, ‘He places the lonely in families.” Psalm 68:6
Our commitment to women and children goes beyond their graduation from The Elizabeth House. We provide three years of post-graduate support and have developed the Eagle Harbor Apartments, a Section 42 housing project designed to offer affordable housing options for women transitioning out of our community living homes.
We are funded by individuals who share our belief that every pregnant woman and her baby deserve our compassion and help, regardless of their circumstances.
