About Us

The Elizabeth House is a program run by Care Net Pregnancy Center of Dane County, serving South Central Wisconsin. It was launched in 2003 to address the needs of single pregnant women in the community. Since its inception, over 350 women and children have found a safe place to live and make a new start.

Care Net is a Christian, faith-based ministry dedicated to helping women and providing comprehensive resources for those facing an unintended pregnancy. Our approach is modeled after Jesus in all that we do, and our volunteers and staff share our Christian beliefs. We are nondenominational and welcome volunteers and staff from both Catholic and Protestant backgrounds. We serve women of all faiths, as well as those without any faith beliefs.

We recognize that a lack of housing is a huge burden to overcome when faced with an unexpected pregnancy. We believe every woman deserves a safe environment to carry out her pregnancy and bring her baby home to.

Many women today lack the support needed to maintain a stable household of their very own. We provide the opportunities, tools, and resources they need to live independently and become self-sufficient. Our goal is that when a woman leaves our program, she has the necessary resource base that keeps her from becoming homeless again.

Our commitment to women and children goes beyond their graduation from The Elizabeth House. We provide three years of post-graduate support and have developed the Eagle Harbor Apartments, a Section 42 housing project designed to offer affordable housing options for women transitioning out of our community living homes.

We do not receive government funding. We are funded by individuals who share our belief that every pregnant woman and her baby deserve our compassion and help, regardless of their circumstances.
